IRIS project: Unexpected and violent death notification

This studyis  conducted by Prof Diego De Leo, President of the NGO De Leo Fund, and Prof Sabrina Cipolletta, Department of General Psychology, University of Padua, with the collaboration of Msr Annalisa Guarino and Benedetta Maria Congregalli.
What does violent and unexpected death mean? It is a death which occurs due to external causes, which strikes unexpectedly, without any warning; it can be due to suicide, homicide, accidents at work, road accidents, and natural disasters.
What is death notification? It is the communication of the death of a loved one by a professional figure, such as a doctor, nurse, police officer, or firefighter.
Who are those involved in the death notification process? On the one hand, the professional figures in charge of the communication; on the other one, people who have lost a loved one.
IRIS project originates from the stories of those who have personally experienced the communication of an unexpected and violent death: the professionals who gave the notification and the people who received it.
