John P.A. Ioannidis is Professor of Medicine, Professor of Epidemiology and Population Health at the School of Medicine at Stanford University and co-director of the Meta-Research Innovation Center at Stanford (METRICS).
A pioneer of the now established discipline of meta-research, the study of research and its practices, he is among the 6 living scientists worldwide who are currently most cited. His PLoS Medicine paper on “Why most published research findings are false” has been the most- accessed article in the history of Public Library of Science (over 3 million hits).
